Executive Summary

As the President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society, Mr. Lenworth Fulton and his executive team will implement policies and plan to meet the following objectives;

        • To support and protect the rights and interests of farmers.
        • To improve the quality of life for farmers through the development of rural communities.
        • Enhanced communication within JAS as well as with stakeholders and the public
        • To promote agriculture through sustainable & profitable enterprises.

        These objectives will be supported by the following initiatives;

        To transform the JAS into a Non-Government Organization:

        • To achieve financial viability
        • Increase membership growth.
        • Attract local and international partnerships.

        To foster good management practices in the operations of the JAS to ensure:

        • Accountability
        • Transparency
        • Dependability

        To improve lobbying & advocacy for farmers through:

        • Land reform
        • Financing
        • Marketing
        • Policy initiative
        • Infrastructure
        • Irrigation
        • Farm Roads
        • Processing and Packaging

        Business development plans to include:

        • Develop JAS properties with an emphasis on Denbigh Showground
        • Intensify commodity trading and input supplies via the farm store & JASCEL
        • Seek investments

        To strengthen linkages with stakeholders such as:

        • Government agencies
        • Private Sector Organizations
        • Donor agencies
        • NGO’s

        To support Agriculture vision programmes such as:

        • Cannabis
        • Organic Farming
        • Nutraceuticals
        • Green Houses
        • Hydroponics
        • Herbs and spices

        To make agriculture more attractive through:

        • Women
        • Youth
        • Climate Smart Approach
        • Training
        • Technology transfer
        • Mechanization
